Most Mom Blogs I came across have fun decorating and organizing ideas and often even awesome recipes.
What I was missing though, was a place for a stay at home mom who doesn’t love to clean, craft, or organize, doesn’t have money to redecorate her house or change her wardrobe every season, but needs help keeping her kids alive without losing her mind. I was looking for a place of encouragement with ideas for how to manage the stress of motherhood and help me parent more peacefully so I raise healthy, smart, and thriving human beings.
When I didn’t quite find what I hoped for, I decided to simply create it.
As a set out on the journey to create yet another mom blog, the world around all of us drastically changed and many parents, well let’s be real – mostly moms, involuntarily also became their children’s teachers. While I fared through this new challenge quite well, being a trained teacher, I had many conversations with friends who were looking for advice and encouragement. What came natural to me, was definitely not a given for them. That’s when I decided to embrace my love for both parenting and learning on The Encouraging Mama.
So let me explain the what’s, why’s, and how’s right now.
The Encouraging Mama Is A Place For Moms
The Encouraging Mama was designed for moms who want to raise healthy, happy, and smart kids without losing themselves along the way
Becoming a mom, specifically a stay at home mom, was my dream and when reality hit, it didn’t look like I had pictured at all. Anyone else?
I felt lost, lonely, overwhelmed, and like I was failing much of the time. I missed the sense of accomplishment I used to have at the end of a day. The same household chores day in and day out were a thankless job.
And then the year that I was finally supposed to gain a little of my “freedom” back, our whole world came to a halt! I will be honest when I say that I shed more than a few selfish tears about the fact that this was supposed to be “my time”. What in the world just happened? Obviously there were much bigger worries in the world and I got over my little pity party pretty fast, but I felt it nonetheless.
It took me finding my mom joy, finding a more peaceful way to parent, and finding connection for me to enjoy my new role. None of that happened on its own. I was blessed with great mentors and I’m happy to be yours, virtually!
Being a stay at home mom is a 24/7 job. We love to take care of our family and we want the best for them. You my friend are my tribe! Helping other moms with tips, tricks, and ideas energizes me! So be ready to hear my heart!
I like to take myself and many topics on, so this is exactly what we’ll do on this blog. I hope you are ready for a ride. It may get wild in some weeks and take you places that you didn’t expect to visit. It may make you smile, laugh, think, or cry. If my writing challenges or triggers you in any way, I see it as a blessing to have connected to you more deeply than just a simple article skim.
I so often hear moms say that they miss using their brain. I totally get it! I used to feel the same way! Between diaper changes, watching Blipie, and picking cheerios off the floor for the umpteenth time, one may start to wonder, “Is this what it’s come to?”. And when we’re helping older kids with school work that seems quite different than when we were in school as we are chasing a crazy toddler around the house it doesn’t really increase our self image.
Well I’m here to tell you that motherhood doesn’t have to be lonely, mundane, or a constant state of overwhelm. How about finding ways to make it rewarding, less stressful, and more fun? And while we’re at it, let’s raise healthy, happy little humans who are curious thinkers.
